Obituary of Lorraine Rebecca Osmond

Please share a memory of Lorraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The passing of Lorraine Rebecca Osmond of Rusagonis, NB, wife of the late William Osmond, occurred on March 10, 2024 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  Born on July 24, 1945 in Buchans, NL, she was the daughter of the late Abel (born in Valleyfield BB, NL) and Rebecca (Squires, born in Botwood, NL) Winter.

Lorraine is survived by her son, Tim Osmond (Joy); daughter Kathy Aubin (Mark); sisters, Velma Winter, Erma Perry (Bill) and Audrey White; brothers, Hallett Winter (Elizabeth) and Fred Winter (Teena); sisters-in-law Joan Osmond, Linda Wellon (Wayne), and Teena Winter (Fred), and brother-in-law Ron Osmond (Joanne); treasured grandchildren, Dylan Aubin (Alicia), Samantha Ayres (Brendan), and Nicholas Smith; dearest great grandchild, Maya Aubin; several nieces and nephews, and many, many special friends. She was predeceased by her infant sister, Yvonne, her son Michael Osmond, brothers-in-law Tom White and Roger Loyer, sister-in-law Mary White, and niece Carolyn White.

Lorraine grew up in Millertown, NL, where she met and married her childhood sweetheart, Bill. They were married for nearly 56 years (1965-2021), moving to Tide Head, NB, in the early ‘70s and then to Fredericton in 1980. She recently moved to Rusagonis to live with Kathy and Mark.

She completed teacher’s college and taught for a couple of years, including Millertown School where she attended in her earlier years. Once her children came along, she chose to stay home and provide a loving home for her family. In the early 1980s, she began her 30-year career as a Homemaker Coordinator with the Canadian Red Cross in Fredericton.

Lorraine will be sadly missed by all. Her contagious laughter was most heart-warming. It was a joy to be in her presence, and she loved long chats on the phone to keep her in touch with her family and friends. She was a very caring person with a positive outlook on life.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 4 to 6pm.  For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or to a charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
