Uda Betty Joan (Harrison) Ross

The passing of Uda Betty Joan Ross of MacLaggan Bridge, NB, wife of Ora Ross, occurred on August 28, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 17, 1934 in Stanley, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Jennie(Sansom) Harrison. She was a member of the Hillcrest United Church, lifetime member of the UCW, official board secretary and the organizer of many church functions. Uda was a life member of Ward Settlement Woman’s Institute and a founding member of Ellen’s Country Kitchen. She enjoyed playing cards, loved country music especially the jamboree.

In addition to her husband, Uda is survived by daughter, Heather D. Spencer (Warren) of Dartmouth, NS; sons, James W. Spencer (Marg) of Victoria, BC and Gary M. Spencer (Anne Marie) of Stanley, NB; step-sons, Terry L. Ross (Elaine) of St. John, NB and Chris J. Ross of Fort McMurray, AB; sisters, Bertha Clarke of Fredericton, NB and Beatrice Thomas of Stanley, NB; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Uda was predeceased by her daughter, Wendy; son, Richard; step-son, Paul and brother, Floyd.

There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will take place in Hillcrest United Church on Monday, September 1, 2008 at 2 pm with Rev. Murray MacFarlane officiating. Interment will take place in Stanley United Church Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Hillcrest United Church or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
